Research and development

Research and development at NSKI University College consist of two main components:

  • Artistic research and development
  • Academic research and development

Artistic research is a parallel to academic research, defined by the Norwegian Universities and University Colleges Act. Artistic research is built around an artistic project at its core, along with a theoretical evaluation of process, methodology, context, and performance.

Academic research and development are, to a large extent, focused on the development of the content and methodology of the subjects taught at NSKI University College. Projects involve research into pedagogic tools and methodologies, such as teaching and evaluation. NSKI University College very much welcomes interdisciplinary research projects on such topics.

In 2016, NSKI University College appointed a research committee. The objectives of the committee include improving the quality of NSKI’s teaching, research, and development, promoting national and international research and development cooperation, and encouraging publication of results in agreement with the Norwegian Universities and University Colleges Act.

The five members of the research committee consider applications for research funding and have an advisory function to the University College administration.

The committee will stimulate research and development that promote theoretical evaluation of content, process, and methodology in artistic practice, contributing to internal interdisciplinary discourse, and approaches which can be implemented in the teaching offered by NSKI.
